I wrote in the blog before that Daniel Day-Lewis should be the front runner for the oscar. Today I am saying its Denzel. This just shows what type a year we are having when it comes to movies. Honestly this is probably going to be one of those years where there is very little argument about who ends up winning. But that aside this is one of Denzel’s best performances.

On the surface this film looks like its a film about a man versus a corporation but it is actually more personal than. It is actually about a man and his struggles with what us Christians call sin. Of course he does not recognize it but I am sure that is how most of us are. This man is played by Denzel and he is pilot who saves a lot a people by doing something no one else can do but this is not the main focus.

After seeing one of the most tense plane crashes ever on film. The focus shifts to the aftermath. What is plain to see from scene one is that Denzel’s character has drinking problem like really bad drinking problem. Of course he does not see this as a problem. He ends up alienating everyone with this problem and comes to crossroads. You will have to see the movie to find out which way he goes. 🙂

I don’t want to say to much more because I am afraid I might ruin the movie. I will say this if you are a Denzel fan go see this movie. This is one of the best of the year.
